Everton No.37 James Garner received the Man of the Match award on his debut for England.
The former Manchester United midfielder was exceptional as England were held to a 1-1 draw by Uruguay in a friendly at Wembley, drawing praise from Thomas Tuchel. The German even compared the 25-year-old to Real Madrid star Federico Valverde after the result.
Tuchel was not the only one to congratulate James Garner – as Everton hero Leon Osman and others flooded the comments section of his Instagram post to acknowledge his achievement.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin sent three blue heart emojis, whilst Osman actually wrote some words in his message, posting: “Massive congrats.”
Declan Rice also wrote a proper message, writing “congrats mate” while adding a heart emoji too.

Everton teammate James Tarkowski commented “congrats brother!” while Tim Iroegbunam called Garner “the boy” after his exceptional England debut.
Furthermore, Dwight McNeil replied, writing “love it” along with a blue heart, while Jack Grealish sent three blue hearts too like Calvert-Lewin did.
Former Toffees defender Ben Godfrey, Jordan Henderson, Harry Maguire, Jesse Lingard, Djed Spence and Everton goalkeeper Tom King – who actually holds a Guinness World Record – also showed the man born in Birkenhead some love.
Garner is clearly a popular man inside and outside of Everton, and has also done his chances of a World Cup spot no harm whatsoever with a fantastic display against Uruguay.
Hopefully, another start beckons for the Everton maestro on Tuesday against Japan.
