Michael Carrick looks more and more likely to become the next permanent Manchester United head coach, now David Beckham has had his say on how he’s fared so far.
When appointed back in January, Michael Carrick was set a Champions League target by Ineos, and he’s well on the way to succeeding.
Manchester United sit in pole position in the race for third, with a favourable run-in and the best form of the four clubs in the ‘mini-league’.
Along with the success, Carrick’s chances are boosted by limited options, with the small group considered, shrinking every week.
Do you agree? Is Michael Carrick the best managerial option?
Is Champions League qualification enough? Or do you need to see more?

David Beckham supports Michael Carrick as head coach
Speaking on talkSPORT, United legend Sir David Beckham has now shared his verdict on Carrick.
“Yeah, I must admit, the last few months have been a lot more comfortable than the last 10 years, to be honest. It’s been, you know, it’s been tough over that time.
“But, you know, I think, you know, Michael’s got experience. I think he’s got a calmness about him that he’s brought into the club. He knows the club. He knows the players. He knows the way Man Utd play and the way Man Utd should play.

“And I’ve always liked Michael as a coach. You know, when you look at him, there’s a calmness. There’s, you know, on the side of the pitch, there’s, I don’t want to say elegance because I’m not sure that’s the right thing to say, but there’s an elegance in the way he is, whether it’s the way he celebrates, whether it’s the way he gets angry.
“You know, all of those things are important in a, in a, in a manager. And I think that, you know, the way he’s got the team and brought the team together has been, has been incredible. And I think as a United fan, it’s exactly, exactly what we needed.”

Alex Crook claims Carrick’s appointment at Manchester United is a matter of time
Everything is lining up right now for Carrick to lead United into the 2026/27 campaign.
Now, talkSPORT journalist Alex Crook has claimed that he sees the job as already being Carrick’s
‘‘I think it will be Carrick to be honest — it’s just a matter of time.’’
This belief will be built on what he’s hearing. While Wayne Rooney also sees Carrick as the obvious choice should Champions League football be confirmed.
If this is the case, then United needs to lock it in sooner rather than later in order to give the recruitment team more time to plan and act swiftly.
