‘More muscle, fluent English’–Player getting ready for big summer move to Chelsea

**Chelsea summer signing Geovanny Quenda is back in Lisbon, and he’s returning a very different footballer from the one who left three months ago.**

[A Bola report](https://www.abola.pt/?srsltid=AfmBOoqQOXgGx47ZAGINLC8DKv7JhJDQw0owPX7WKQrdNNFCo7M8fKrt) that after completing an elite recovery programme at Chelsea’s Cobham training ground, the 18-year-old has now returned to Portugal today.

Three months in London change everything

----------------------------------------

Geovanny Quenda has been sidelined since December 5th, when a fractured fifth metatarsal forced him off early in the derby at the Estádio da Luz.

Chelsea, who signed him in the summer for more than €50m, immediately took charge of his rehabilitation.

His stay in London began with surgery. That was followed by a meticulously structured recovery plan overseen by Chelsea’s medical and performance teams.

That’s included mobility work, rotational stability, and intensive muscle strengthening dominating his afternoons. Cobham’s gym has become his second home, and the results are visible.

Quenda now boasts more mass, more power and a body that is built for life in the Premier League.

Training, studying and growing up

---------------------------------

It wasn’t all physical work for the 18-year-old, though. Geovanny Quenda used his morning to explore his new neighbourhood, take in English lessons and generally get a feel for life in England.

Meals were tailored to his recovery, downtime spent with friends and family, and he even squeezed in photo shoots for Nike.

On the pitch he worked closely with Chelse staff and crossed paths with head coach Liam Rosenior[. He has very much gotten an early taste](https://sportwitness.co.uk/player-preparing-for-big-transfer-to-chelsea-learning-english-and-getting-to-know-london/) of the environment he’ll join permanently this summer.

Fight at Sporting

-----------------

Now fully recovered and set to join Sporting Club de Portugal training next week, the youngster has clear goals. He wants to reclaim his spot on the right-wing from Geny Catano.

He already has eight assists and five goals this season, and he’s targeting double figures in both before the season ends. More importantly he wants to leave Sporting with titles.

That would allow him to leave with the feeling he has repaid the club who have shaped him.

Chelsea future

--------------

Attention then turns to his future at Chelsea. Geovanny Quenda knows the competition will be fierce at Stamford Bridge, but he’s embracing it.

His ambition is simple; he wants to arrive in London as a player ready to compete immediately. He’s already on the right track.

With three months in London leaving him physically strong, mentally more mature and fluent in English.

Now he’s returning to Sporting looking to end the season strongly and then return to Chelsea in the summer as a more complete athlete.
