James Garner made his England debut against Uruguay on Friday evening, playing alongside a reported Everton target in Ben White.
It was the Arsenal No.4 who opened the scoring for England, before also conceding a late penalty which Federico Valverde – a player Thomas Tuchel compared to Garner – dispatched in the 94th minute.
After the 1-1 draw, Gabriel Clarke asked James Garner for his thoughts on White, amid reports David Moyes is hoping to bring the England international to the Hill Dickinson Stadium this summer.

What James Garner said when asked about Ben White
It was iNews who claimed Everton want White this summer, and Garner seemed sympathetic towards the Arsenal defender on an eventful night at Wembley.
The £50m man was booed – having previously left the 2022 World Cup camp after falling out with Steve Holland – only to then immediately improve his situation with a goal, but then conceding a penalty.
When asked for his thoughts on White, Garner – who Leon Osman congratulated – told ITV Sport: “Yeah, you know he came in, got a goal and then of course, the penalty is probably gonna be spoken about. Some people will say it is, some people will say it wasn’t (a penalty).”
MORE EVERTON STORIES
It was admittedly something of a surprise to see the 28-year-old return to the England side, not only because of what he did at the 2022 World Cup, but also as a result of his situation at Arsenal.
White has made just five Premier League starts this season after slipping behind Jurrien Timber in the pecking order at right-back, while the formidable duo of Gabriel Magalhaes and William Saliba have limited his opportunities in the centre of defence.
Thoughts on potentially signing Ben White? 🤔

It may result in the former Brighton man missing out on a place in the World Cup squad this summer, but as far as Everton are concerned, his situation under Mikel Arteta offers hope that a move to Merseyside is possible.
