Romano Says Arsenal“Are Expected”To Make Move To Sign Forward As He Provides Kvaratskhelia Update

Fabrizio Romano claims Arsenal “are expected to strengthen up front” during the summer transfer window, but an approach for Khvicha Kvaratskhelia is off the table.

There was speculation that the Gunners were exploring a move for the Georgian international, but Romano has played down the links:

“There have been rumours again about Arsenal being interested. But my understanding is crystal clear: PSG have no intention to open talks for Kvaratskhelia this summer.”

“They love him – his attitude, professionalism, consistency. And remember, he joined from Napoli only 14 months ago, in January 2025. So PSG want to enjoy him much longer.”

“Of course, Arsenal are expected to strengthen up front – maybe a striker, maybe a winger – but not Kvaratskhelia. Nothing concrete between Arsenal and PSG on this one.”

Arsenal need to raise funds for such a large purchase

Even if Kvaratskhelia is open to a switch to the Emirates, as some have suggested, the fact that Paris Saint-Germain are not interested in selling makes any deal a long shot.

Financially, Mikel Arteta’s side are not in a position to pay in excess of £100m, which would be the level of offer required to recruit such an elite player.

For that reason, a lot hinges on whether sporting director Andrea Berta can raise enough money through sales.

Are there any alternatives to Kvaratskhelia?

Anthony Gordon has been tipped as a possible target in recent weeks. Arteta is said to be a big fan of the player, having tracked him since his Everton days.

While the 24-year-old would still be an expensive addition, Newcastle are expected to sanction sales if they don’t qualify for the Champions League.

Arsenal would probably have a better chance of getting Gordon out of St James’ Park than they would with getting PSG to part with Kvaratskhelia.
