Fiorentina goalkeeper David de Gea has engaged in banter with Bruno Fernandes, whose second assist in the 3-1 win against Aston Villa was analysed by the former Manchester United star.
On March 15, Fernandes produced a brilliant display in his team's Premier League victory against the Villans at Old Trafford. He laid out two assists, one to Casemiro in the 53rd minute and another to Matheus Cunha 18 minutes later, in the game to help his side leapfrog Aston Villa in the table.
After Cunha's right-footed goal against Unai Emery's team was named Manchester United's Goal of the Month, De Gea commented on an Instagram post:
De Gea, who joined his current club as a free agent in the summer of 2024, played alongside Fernandes 152 times at the Red Devils from 2020 to 2023. He also won eight trophies, including a Premier League title, during his 12-year-long spell at the Old Trafford side, playing in 545 total games.
Fernandes, on the other hand, is relishing a mesmerising 2025-26 campaign at the Red Devils. The 31-year-old attacking midfielder has registered eight goals and 17 assists in 30 games in all competitions this term.
Meanwhile, Michael Carrick's side will return to action in a Premier League contest against Leeds United at Old Trafford on Monday (April 13).
Harry Maguire backs 20-year-old Manchester United star to become 'all-time great'
During a chat with DHL Express, Manchester United star Harry Maguire suggested Leny Yoro has the potential to become a generational defender one day. He stated (h/t Metro):
"Leny Yoro has all the attributes, the talent, and the potential to have whatever career he wants. It's exceptional to see someone playing centre-back in the Premier League at his age, especially at a club like Manchester United."
Maguire, whose deal will run out this June, added:
"He's doing an amazing job and there is still so much more he can improve on. Hopefully, in 10 or 15 years' time, we're sitting here putting his name in that bracket of the all-time greats."
Yoro, who turned 20 last November, has started 18 of his 29 total appearances for Manchester United this campaign. He has contributed one assist, helping his team register three clean sheets in all competitions so far.
Since arriving from Lille in a deal worth up to £59 million in 2024, Yoro has bagged one goal in 62 games across competitions for his side.
