Former Miami quarterback Carson Beck is one of 319 prospects invited to this week's NFL Scouting Combine

Carson Beck returned to Miami colors this week as he threw to his receivers at his pro day, before getting the chance to meet with multiple NFL organizations.

Beck has experienced a fascinating pre-draft journey, advancing all the way to the National Championship game with the Hurricanes before being jeered at the Scouting Combine - prompting one of the most significant crowd responses in the event's history in Indianapolis.

The quarterback was viewed as a guaranteed first-round selection just a few years back, but a challenging campaign in Georgia resulted in him being benched before transferring to Miami. Beck performed sufficiently to guide the program to a National Championship showing, falling to Fernando Mendoza and Indiana.

After wrapping up his stint in Miami and pre-draft work, he came back to the institution for their pro day while aiming to elevate his draft position - while also getting the chance to throw to his receivers for one final time.

Discussing his return to Miami for his pro day, Beck said: "I was just super excited for this opportunity and the chance to throw to my wide receivers one last time. Just sharing the field with them, I know that they had a blast. I had a blast. I'm just super grateful for this opportunity."

Beck found himself jeered in Indianapolis - just a brief journey from Bloomington and the home of the Hoosiers, who beat him in the National Championship game. And due to his participation in the CFP final, Beck's pre-draft process and preparations have taken place over a more compressed timeframe than many other quarterbacks in his class.

Beck is understood to have visited a number of NFL franchises, confirmed to have held discussions with the Pittsburgh Steelers in recent weeks.

Discussing all the work he's completed pre-draft, Beck said: "It's been crazy and hectic. Obviously, we've been all over the place, especially with ending the season late.

"There were no days off, you know? Two days after the game I was back up in Jacksonville training, getting ready, and preparing for the combine, and the rest of my teammates essentially did the same exact thing... this is all something that we've been looking forward to as a team."

Looking ahead to the draft itself, Beck said: "I think there will be a lot of emotions behind it just with everything I've been through in my career.

"It's kind of a roller coaster that I've been through, and obviously, to have this last season with these guys and these coaches, and to ultimately have a season that we had was kind of a perfect ending for us. I'm super excited for this opportunity."

Beck is projected to be selected anywhere between the second to fifth round.
