The Dallas Cowboys made a bold move earlier in March to trade three-technique defensive lineman Oza Odighizuwa to the San Francisco 49ers for the price of a third round pick (#92 overall).
Although the Cowboys now have All-Pro defensive tackle Quinnen Williams to fill one of the interior defensive line spots along with nose tackle Kenny Clark, Dallas still has one spot vacant on their three-man defensive front as they switch to a 3-4 defense under new defensive coordinator Christian Parker.
The team already added former Los Angeles Chargers defensive lineman Otito Ogbonnia as a possible fill-in at the position earlier in free agency, and now Dallas has bought in yet another player to compete for the position, who may end up being the one to replace Odighizuwa – veteran DL and former New Orleans Saint Jonathan Bullard, who signed on a one-year deal worth up to $2.5 million, per NFL Network’s Mike Garofolo.

Bullard is signing a one-year, $2.5M max deal on the day of his late grandmother Joyce’s birthday, which is fitting because he’s said she was a “hollering at the TV” Cowboys fan.

Bullard was originally drafted in 2016 in the third round of the draft by the Chicago Bears. The Florida product last three seasons in the Windy City before being released in August 2019, where he was subsequently picked up by the Arizona Cardinals.
Short stints with division rivals, the Seattle Seahawks, in addition to the Atlanta Falcons followed, before Bullard found his footing in Minnesota, with whom he spent three years from 2022 until he signed with the Saints in March 2025.
