Michael Carrick has established himself as the frontrunner to become Manchester United’s permanent head coach this summer, not only on the pitch, but also behind the scenes.
With Luis Enrique dropping off the target list for Manchester United due to his likely contract extension at PSG, which sees Michael Carrick take yet another step closer to getting the job.
For many, Carrick is already the clear favourite, with his success making it hard for Ineos to choose anybody else. Which means the next seven games will either confirm this or see United go back to the drawing board.
Now, it has emerged that behind the scenes, Carrick is impressing his bosses in more ways than just his team’s performances on the pitch.

What Michael Carrick is doing to impress behind the scenes
This comes according to a report from TeamTalk, which claims that Carrick’s case to become head coach on a permanent basis goes far beyond just the results on the pitch.
Ineos are also said to be impressed by Carrick’s calm leadership, handling of the squad and also the clear commitment he has to restore the standards of the club.
The report claims that this includes improvements behind the scenes relating to how staff and the players operate. All of these factors are contributing to Carrick making a big impression on the decision makers at United right now.

Manchester United should accelerate Carrick appointment
All indications are that Carrick will be appointed United head coach on a permanent basis this summer, with Ineos arguably left no choice because of his success.
Carrick has plenty of endorsements from the squad, which is half the battle for a manager to get the players buying into his ideas.
If United’s decision makers have already decided that Carrick should get the job, then it would make sense to secure this appointment as soon as possible.
With a massive job recruitment wise this summer, the sooner the manager is sorted, the sooner Jason Wilcox can begin making proper pitches to players, because they won’t commit without knowing who their boss will be.
