Odell Beckham Jr. #3 of the Los Angeles Rams warms up before a game against the Baltimore Ravens.

The Los Angeles Rams have a roster need that looms large, despite the presence of two Pro Bowlers already occupying the position, and Odell Beckham Jr. remains an intriguing potential solution in free agency.

Beckham has spoken candidly about wanting another opportunity to return to the field, regardless of what role he would fill.

However, Beckham rejoining the Rams could prove mutually beneficial.

Beckham spent part of the 2021 season with the Rams, helping the club reach the Super Bowl, before tearing his ACL during their eventual victory. His career has continued to be mired by injuries and even a six-game suspension last season since he departed from LA.

However, Beckham’s recent showing at the Fanatics Flag Football Classic turned heads, and the receiver acknowledged he hoped to use it as a springboard for another NFL opportunity.

CBS Sports’ John Breech named LA among teams with which Beckham could make an impact.

“The Rams already have Puka Nacua and Davante Adams at the top of the depth chart, but at 33 years old, Beckham would probably be more than comfortable stepping in as the Rams’ No. 3 receiver. The biggest advantage for Beckham in L.A. is that he already knows Sean McVay’s offense,” Breech wrote on March 27.

“Even if Beckham lost a step since his last stint with the Rams, McVay would almost certainly utilize the receiver in his offense. Nacua has also been hit with a lawsuit, so the Rams will need to be ready if that leads to a situation where he has to miss any time.”

Beckham, a three-time Pro Bowler, had 27 receptions for 305 yards and 5 touchdowns during his regular-season stint with the Rams. He posted a 21-288-1 line in the postseason that year.

Beckham has a 44-620-3 line in the four years since then.

The Rams have several, less-proven options on their current roster, including recent draft picks Jordan Whittington and Konata Mumpfield, both of whom have flashed. The Rams can also go with multiple tight ends, adding another potential obstacle to Beckham returning.

McVay has also been candid about where LA has been on Beckham potentially returning to the Rams in recent seasons.

“That’s not something that we’ve talked about yet,” McVay told reporters in December 2024 when asked directly. “You know the respect that I have for him, but that hasn’t been something that we’ve discussed.”

Still, Beckham has explicitly said he would like to play for the Rams again.

More specifically, he cited McVay having him “ready and prepared” and how that kind of feeling helps elevate play on the field.

“I got to go back with McVay. Take me home. Call a family. Tell them there’s a No. 7 jersey that we need to unretire for a year, a couple games. I need that back,” Beckham said on “The Pivot” podcast in October 2025.

“My favorite coach that I’ve had all my life was my high school coach, and it’s because he taught me how to be a man. He was firm on me, but he also prepped me for football. There’s nothing like being prepared to play a game instead of going into it, kind of, wishing for, hoping for whatever, and McVay was that person.”

Still, nothing came to fruition for Beckham with the Rams, which seems quite telling.
