Maybe it’s just common sense, but NFL teams don’t draft long snappers very often. Maybe once every few years 1 will come along who is good enough to get drafted in the final few rounds.
That doesn’t mean the position just magically replenishes itself.
That’s why the Denver Broncos, despite having a very highly thought of long snapper in place with veteran Mitchell Fraboni, are still seeing what’s out there.
“USClong snapper Hank Pepper, one of the top players at his position in the NFL Draft, has a private workout withBroncos per a league source,” NFL reporter Aaron Wilson wrote on his official X account on Saturday. “Was a semifinalist for William V. Campbell trophy (academic Heisman) and a team captain.”
According to Pro Football Reference, the Broncos have never drafted a player designated primarily as a long snapper in franchise history.
