Arsenal trio return from international duty with injury concerns

Arsenal have been dealt a potential injury setback after Bukayo Saka, Declan Rice, and Noni Madueke were forced to withdraw from international duty with England national football team.

The trio have returned to their club for medical assessment ahead of the upcoming fixtures, including a scheduled clash against Japan.

According to the Football Association, the Arsenal stars were part of eight players granted permission to leave camp early to receive treatment.

Others include Aaron Ramsdale, Fikayo Tomori, John Stones, Adam Wharton, and Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Madueke’s situation appears the most concerning after he sustained a knock during England’s 1-1 draw with Uruguay at Wembley Stadium on Friday.

The winger was substituted in the first half, with Jarrod Bowen taking his place. Meanwhile, Madueke was seen leaving the stadium wearing a protective brace on his left knee, raising fears of a more serious issue.

In contrast, Saka and Rice were not involved in the encounter against Uruguay, having been left out of the matchday squad.

Both players have now returned to North London to undergo further checks, joining Madueke on the treatment table as concerns grow over their availability.

The development represents a significant concern for manager Mikel Arteta ahead of a crucial run of fixtures. Arsenal are set to face Southampton FC at St Mary’s Stadium in the FA Cup quarter-finals, while also maintaining their push in the Premier League and the UEFA Champions League.

Arteta will be hoping for positive medical updates in the coming days as the Gunners aim to sustain momentum across all competitions.
