What Bump makes of Seahawks' visit with RB Najee Harris

The Seattle Seahawks have an unsettled running back room following the offseason departure of Super Bowl MVP Kenneth Walker III to the Kansas City Chiefs. They perhaps took a step toward settling it some this week by having a visit with running back Najee Harris, a free agent who was last with the Los Angeles Chargers.

Who will be Seahawks’ top draft pick? Six prospects to know

The 28-year-old Harris was a standout in his first four seasons, rushing for over 1,000 yards in each year with the Pittsburgh Steelers from 2021-24, but he was limited to just three games last year following a September Achilles tear.

Seattle Sports’ Michael Bumpus, a former NFL wide receiver and current football broadcast analyst, shared what he makes of the Seahawks visiting with Harris on Friday’s edition of Bump and Stacy.

“Whenever someone visits the Seahawks, pay attention to it, because they mean business,” Bumpus said. “They don’t just bring people over to hang out.”

As for what Bumpus thinks of the potential of Harris joining the Seahawks?

“I think Najee will be a fit here,” Bumpus said optimistically, though he added a caveat. “I’ve talked about maybe five or six different running backs that I can see working here, and that just lets you know the versatility of the running back spot. Oh, you want a scatback? Cool. You want a power back? Cool. You want an every-down back? Cool. You want a third-down back? Cool. I’m just so desperate for a running back over here that whenever someone is rumored or has visited, I’m going to dive deep into it and convince myself that they will be a good fit.”

Bumpus said he likes the idea of Harris joining the Hawks, in part because he could make a good tandem with Zach Charbonnet, who formed a dynamic duo with Walker but is expected to miss a good chunk of the 2026 season after suffering a torn ACL in the playoffs.

“I think that (Harris) coming off the injury and coming to a situation like this will be perfect, because once Zach Charbonnet is ready to go, you’re going to have a combo there.”
