Now, Doncic joins Dillon Brooks as the only players this season who have been suspended for reaching the league's technical foul limits.

Full NBA statement:

"Los Angeles Lakers guard Luka Doncic has been suspended one game without pay for receiving his 16th technical foul of the 2025-26 season, it was announced today by James Jones, Executive Vice President, Head of Basketball Operations.

Under NBA rules, a player or coach is automatically suspended without pay for one game once he receives his 16th technical foul during a regular season.

For every two additional technical fouls received during that regular season, the player or coach will be automatically suspended without pay for an additional game.

Doncic received his most recent technical foul with 5:12 remaining in the third quarter of the Lakers' 116-99 win over the Brooklyn Nets on March 27 at Crypto.com Arena. Doncic will serve his suspension on March 30 when the Lakers host the Washington Wizards."

The Slovenian received a technical foul after he was called for an offensive foul during the Brooklyn game. Following the play, both he and Nets forward Ziaire Williams exchanged some words and went at it.

The two subsequently triggered a whistle from referee Sean Wright.

Doncic had already evaded a suspension after the NBA overturned his past technical foul incident with Orlando Magic big man Goga Bitadze from last week.

Both players engaged in heated words and eventually accused each other in their respective postgame interviews.

Luka himself revealed that Bitadze cussed out and disrespected his family, while the Georgian big man denied the allegations of the Lakers guard and claimed that it was actually Doncic who started their verbal exchange.

This season, Luka is averaging a league-leading 33.7 points in over 47 percent shooting with 8.2 assists, 7.8 rebounds, and 1.6 steals across 62 games.
