Man Utd handed a boost in Ayyoub Bouaddi transfer hopes, Ineos need to smash Leny Yoro benchmark

Outside of the first-choice Premier League proven midfield options that Manchester United are weighing up right now, Ayyoub Bouaddi remains an intriguing option.

This summer, Manchester United are going to invest a lot of money in the midfield, with two separate plans emerging.

While Sandro Tonali emerges as the top contender to be signed this summer as the number one midfielder, there are other players considered as supplementary additions.

United’s interest in Matheus Fernandes would fall into this category, and so does Ayyoub Bouaddi, currently shining for Lille.

Manchester United handed a boost in chances to sign Ayyoub Bouaddi

The prospect of signing Bouaddi should be exciting for Manchester United supporters, given he is effectively viewed as a midfield version of Leny Yoro, or generational in other words.

Now, L’Equipe have reported a boost for United’s chances of securing his signature.

It is claimed that Bouaddi is a target for United this summer, which has been reported over the past few months.

But it’s also claimed now that Lille are aiming to make Bouaddi their record sale this summer, with interest growing and the French side having a need to sell amid some reports of financial uncertainty.

This would see Bouaddi’s fee beat Yoro’s £52m, which was enough to sign the centre-back. While it would also require surpassing Nicolas Pepe’s record £72m move to Arsenal, which might be a hard sell.

Manchester United should sign Bouaddi, but not for £72m

Interest in Bouaddi has been persistent for the past year or so.

United were keen on Bouaddi under Ruben Amorim, with the club at the time convinced that the young Frenchman would be for sale this summer.

Bouaddi has since been named in the NXGN list, a confirmation of his brilliance for Lille and why Europe’s biggest clubs are going to be circling to sign him this summer.

Complicating things, Bouaddi did sign a new contract in December. However, that will serve just to raise the demands from Lille rather than rule out a move.
