Manchester United will be able to do some transfer business of their own when the next window opens

Manchester United midfielder Casemiro’s representatives have begun ‘talks’ with Inter Miami over a potential summer switch, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano. His contract at Old Trafford expires at the end of the season and he will be leaving. He is due to become a free agent in late June.

The Red Devils are positioned in 3rd place in the Premier League table behind Arsenal and Manchester City. Michael Carrick has done an eye-catching job since he was brought in as interim boss. He was picked as the caretaker replacement for Ruben Amorim.

Manchester United’s Casemiro in talks with Inter Miami

Reporter Romano has posted on X: “Understand Inter Miami have started talks with Casemiro’s camp as first proposal has been sent! Casemiro, open to Miami move with ambitious project + personal life. Deal depend on financial proposal, as he received more bids from Europe/Saudi.”

Casemiro, 34, has a big decision to make on where to play next after United. He made the switch to England back in 2022 after spells at Sao Paulo and Real Madrid. The Brazil international, who has 82 caps to his name, has made 155 appearances in all competitions and has scored 24 goals, seven of which have come this season.

Inter Miami could see him as their next big statement signing. They still have Lionel Messi on their books along with Luis Suarez. The MLS outfit finished 3rd in the Eastern Conference last year before they managed to win MLS Cup after beating Vancouver Whitecaps in the final.

Pundit Chris Sutton believes Casemiro departing later this year will be a good thing for United. He said on BBC Radio 5 Live's Monday Night Club earlier this month: "I don't really get the debate. I think under [Ruben] Amorim he was really exposed. Under [Michael] Carrick his numbers and performance level has improved but so has the teams.

"I think this is a bit of sentimental guff more than anything. If Manchester United want to really move forward as a club, Casemiro isn't the future for that. He's been a great player but it comes to us all, he just doesn't have the legs he once had."
