QS: Chelsea ready €40m bid for Milan star – counter-move already planned

Chelsea have expressed an interest in signing Strahinja Pavlovic, but AC Milan have a counter-move ready.

Pavlovic arrived at Milan in the 2024 summer transfer window from Red Bull Salzburg and while he had some initial difficulties, under Massimiliano Allegri he has gone up a level and is now one of the pillars of the rearguard.

In addition to his improved defensive work, Pavlovic has also revealed himself to be a surprise goalscorer. This season he’s already scored four goals in Serie A, the last of which was just a week ago in the win against Torino.

Pavlovic: In Chelsea’s sights

According to Quotidiano Sportivo (via MN24), the Serbian defender has been targeted by Chelsea, who are ready to make a decisive move to bring him to the Premier League next summer.

The performances of the Serbia international have caught the eye of the Premier League giants, and in recent seasons they have shown no hesitation when it comes to investing in younger players to build a future core.

Pavlovic’s value has skyrocketed, going from the €18m paid to Salzburg in 2024 to a valuation that today – according to the CIES – fluctuates between €50-60m. Chelsea are preparing an initial offer of around €40m, the paper states.

Milan’s position is very clear: the club do not want to sell Pavlovic and instead are working intensely on renewing his contract until 2031. RedBird’s plan includes increasing his salary to around €3m net per year, to secure the man Allegri considers the perfect fit for his tactical philosophy.
