West Ham Are "Interested" in Signing 19 y/o Defender Who Is "Not Entirely Happy At Chelsea"

West Ham have joined the race to sign Chelsea centre-back Josh Acheampong, according to Bild reporter Christian Falk

Speaking on his YouTube channel, CF Bayern Insider, Falk said that the 19-year-old is unsettled at Stamford Bridge, and there are several clubs (including the Hammers) who have expressed an interest in the player:

“Josh Acheampong from Chelsea. He keeps being mentioned with Bayern. You have to say, yes, he’s an interesting player. Clubs like Newcastle, Tottenham, West Ham are all said to be interested.”

“He’s not entirely happy at Chelsea. He’s not getting much playing time there and is supposed to be a good fit for Bayern.”

Chelsea are keen to keep hold of Acheampong

While the teenager may be weighing up a potential departure from the Blues, his club are not considering selling him at the end of the season.

Acheampong signed a four and a half year contract in December 2024, following similar speculation about his future, but it does seem as if he has started to lose patience after a campaign where he has been used sparingly.

The defender has been given 13 starts in all competitions, but he has been an unused substitute in 18 other games. He may be looking to get regular minutes elsewhere.

What does this mean for Disasi and West Ham?

At the moment, it appears as if the Hammers have not advanced beyond initial interest in Acheampong, and that is not a surprise, as their transfer targets will be determined by whether they stay in the Premier League.

Were they to pursue Acheempong, though, it may suggest that they have given up on recruiting Axel Disasi on a permanent basis. The Frenchman has performed well during his loan at the London Stadium, but Chelsea are not expected to sell him for a low fee.
