The contract of John Stones is set to expire at the end of this season. At this stage, there appears to be very little chance of Manchester City extending his contract. Stones’ injury issues mean that he cannot be relied upon to be a consistent contributor for his team. That is a great shame given how good John Stones is as a player when fully fit. The hope for now is that the calf issue that Stones has suffered isn’t too serious and he can contribute for Pep Guardiola’s side across the final stages of this season.
Despite it seeming like John Stones days at Manchester City are numbered, the hope is that he can make England’s squad for the upcoming World Cup. Stones is a key player for Thomas Tuchel’s side and if he can stay fit he will likely have a prominent role to play for England in the United States.
