The future looks bright at Newcastle United as the under-15s defeated Manchester United, Chelsea and Manchester City on their way to lifting the the Premier League International tournament.
Academy director Steve Harper has hailed Newcastle United’s under-15s for winning the Premier League International tournament.
Led by Graeme Coulson, the young Magpies beat Manchester United, Chelsea - who hosted the event - and Manchester City on their way to the trophy. Other clubs in the competition included Juventus, Borussia Dortmund, Aston Villa and Sunderland.
Toon prospect Muawiya Ghanem - who arrived last summer from West Bromwich Albion - was crowned as the player of the tournament. He scored the winner in the final as Newcastle defeated Man City 1-0 at Cobham.

Newcastle conceded just one goal, in the last group game to Juventus while fielding a heavily rotated side. Former Toon goalkeeper Harper - in charge of the academy - has hailed Coulson’s side for making the club proud.
"The staff and players did everyone proud,” he said. “They were magnificent. To emerge as deserved winners in a competition featuring many of the elite youth academies of not only the Premier League but Europe too, reflects a huge amount of effort from every department at the Academy.
"The boys gave absolutely everything in every minute of every game. An enormously proud day for everyone connected to the Academy and football club."
