'Tough': Joao Pedro responds when asked if he is happy at Chelsea while on Brazil duty

If any Chelsea player can come out of the Liam Rosenior reign holding their head high, it is Joao Pedro. The Brazilian striker has improved under Rosenior’s guidance, but there aren’t many.

Chelsea’s defence feels like it has got worse, and the players look devoid of confidence after their 8-2 humbling against PSG over two legs, and two successive Premier League losses to Newcastle and Everton.

But Pedro is the one player who can truly say he has got better since Rosenior arrived at Stamford Bridge. The striker is scoring more goals, playing more centrally, even if he failed to score in the last four outings.

At £60m, he seems to be a bit of a bargain!

Now with Brazil, Pedro was a substitute for his country in the 2-1 loss to France this week, and could be in line to earn a start under Carlo Ancelotti when facing Croatia in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

Is Joao Pedro happy at Chelsea? The striker eases concern

Having only just joined from Brighton last summer in a £60m deal, there is less noise surrounding his future than there is regarding Enzo Fernandez, Cole Palmer, and some other big Chelsea names.

However, Jamie Carragher suggested a handful of Chelsea players could leave and included Pedro in that list come the summer. Pedro was asked if he is happy at Chelsea and what it means to wear the Blue.

“I’m very happy to be at Chelsea. It’s a huge club, it has been a tough week for us, but I think after the international break it will be better,” Pedro told ESPN FC, while on international duty with Brazil.

Barcelona have made calls to Joao Pedro’s agent

Deco might be well-regarded among Chelsea fans following his stint in West London, but that has not stopped the Portuguese icon from a move to sign Pedro. Deco has made contact with Pedro’s agents.

Indeed, Deco is Barcelona’s sporting director these days and given the state Chelsea are in, with a place in the Champions League looking doubtful, Pedro and Chelsea’s other big stars could be tempted to go.

Yet, when presented with interest from Barcelona, it is reported that Pedro gave no indication that he would be interested or is looking for an escape route at Chelsea. He has a contract until June 2033.
