New England Patriots: Kadyn Proctor 2026 Prospect Profile

The New England Patriots’ top priority in this year’s Draft should be to get talented football players on the roster. One of the top names on that list should be Alabama offensive tackle Kadyn Proctor. Proctor is an absolute mountain of a human being. At 6’7″, 365 lbs, his anchor is very impressive, and once his feet are set, there will be no bull rushing or running through him. His athleticism at his size is one of the most intriguing things in the entire Draft class. He moves like somebody half his size, and Alabama even gave him the ball a couple times during his time with the Crimson Tide. So let’s dive into Proctor as a prospect and his fit in New England.

What type of prospect is Proctor?

Kadyn Proctor is one of the most interesting prospects in this Draft. His combination of size, athleticism, and length make him look like he was built in a lab to play offensive lineman at the NFL level. His strength and ability to stop rushers in their tracks also shows why he is projected to be a first round pick in April. He has all the tools to become one of the best tackles in the league, even though some project him to move into guard. I believe his abilities shouldn’t be wasted inside, especially when tackle is one of the hardest positions to find in the pros. Overall, if Proctor lands with a team that believes in his abilities, they will give him a shot as one of their franchise tackles.

The Patriots used the fourth overall pick in last year’s Draft on left tackle Will Campbell, but that doesn’t mean they won’t spend a premium pick on another offensive lineman. Especially since their current right tackle Morgan Moses is thirty-five years old. Moses could be close to retirement and Proctor would be the perfect replacement. He could also be an insurance policy at left guard as a rookie since the Patriots signed Alijah Vera-Tucker who has had serious injuries in his past. I don’t believe Proctor should be selected to be a guard, but if Vera-Tucker goes down, he would be a great option to fill in until he can take over for Moses at right tackle. Will Campbell struggled towards the end of the season last year, but many believe it was due to rushing back from his knee injury since he played so well earlier in the year. If Campbell can get back to the player he was early last season, and Proctor can take over for Moses when he leaves, the Patriots could have Drake Maye protected for the next decade.

Proctor is projected to be a first round pick, and some even have him going in the top twenty picks. With the Patriots currently sitting at pick thirty-one, they will either need to be aggressive and trade up or hope the Alabama star falls to them. If New England believes Proctor can be one of their franchise tackles of the future, they shouldn’t hesitate to go up and get their guy. A tandem of Proctor and Campbell would create more security for Drake Maye in the pocket, and would allow him to make more plays instead of being rushed through his progressions. Unfortunately, many people around the league are very intrigued by Proctor’s tools and his potential, so it could be difficult to get him to Foxborough.

How could Proctor contribute as a rookie?

The Alabama star could immediately add to the depth and talent of the New England offensive line. As stated earlier, he could be great insurance for Vera-Tucker if he gets hurt, and he could also learn from Morgan Moses. Moses is also likely to miss a game or two just due to his age and the physical demands of the tackle position and Proctor could step right in. This would give Proctor the opportunity to play meaningful snaps as a rookie, and help him develop for the future. There is also a world where the Patriots decide that Proctor is too talented to be a backup as a rookie, and he beats Moses for the starting job. Moses could then be a great mentor and backup if anybody goes down, and Proctor would start his career as a key protector for one of the league’s best quarterbacks.
