Donegal hammer Kerry to clinch Division 1 League title

Donegal 3-20 Kerry 2-10

Donegal are National Football League Division 1 champions for only the second time after they hammered Kerry in Croke Park today.

Kerry started reasonably well and were 1-1 to 0-3 ahead after 13 minutes following a goal from Keith Evans.

However, Donegal took firm control then and scored ten points on the trot with Michael Langan, Ryan McHugh and Max Campbell all to the fore.

Sean O’Shea had the last say of the half for Kerry but they were 0-13 to 1-2 at the break.

Kerry registered the first two points of the second half but then Donegal struck for three goals in as many minutes with Conor O’Donnell, Michael Murphy, and Caolan McGonagle rattling the net.

Jim McGuinness’s men side also struck the next six points and were 21 ahead at one stage.

The Kingdom did come into it again towards the end and David Clifford notched a goal.

However, it was Donegal’s day and they ran out convincing winners.
