The Boston Celtics are gearing up for their 38th home game of the season in tonight’s contest against the Charlotte Hornets.
Boston is coming off an impressive victory in TD over the surging Atlanta Hawks, who entered Friday’s game winners of 12 of their last 13 games.
Charlotte is coming off a home defeat to the Philadelphia 76ers. The Hornets built a 15-point lead but were unable to stave off the shooting ofTyrese Maxey andPaul George.
Tonight’s conference tilt will prove massive when the final regular season standings are rolled out in a few weeks.
The Celtics’ two-game winning streak will be tested Sunday. The team will be without an MVP candidate and one former All-Star.
Boston Celtics roll out final injury report before tonight’s big game
Boston has been riding high lately.
On Wednesday, the C’s were able to overcome a poor first quarter and went on to take down the defending NBA champion Oklahoma City Thunder in a potential Finals preview.
Two nights later, the Celtics cooled off the red-hot Hawks, a team that has rediscovered its fire in the aftermath of theTrae Young trade that transpired earlier in the season.
The Hornets have been in a similar category recently. They are among the best in the NBA ever since the turn of the calendar and have worked their way up to the last play-in spot in the Eastern Conference.
Charlotte will be playing with desperation until the end of the regular season, so Boston needs to bring its A-game tonight, especially as it’ll be shorthanded.
With tipoff just a few hours away, the Celtics have released the final injury report.
Celtics hoping to maintain health entering the postseason
Today’s injury report is no joke. These are obviously huge names.
The good news is that Tatum continues to progress well physically. His shooting splits may not be there yet, but he’ll eventually discover his rhythm. The Celtics aren’t worried about Tatum’s play right now.
Also, Quetta and and White’s injury don’t appear to be anything more than minor ailments. White has been playing every game and doesn’t look to be bothered, though his injury is still something the team will pay attention to just in case.
Thankfully, there has been no word about a Vucevic setback. The former All-Star should be ready to go before the playoffs.
The tricky one here is the injury to Brown.
Any injury with “Achilles” in it makes you worry, but Boston hasn’t expressed any major concern about Brown. It is probably a good thing he was initially listed as questionable and later downgraded to out. Had the team listed him as out immediately, there may have been more reason for concern.
Winning tonight would be impressive for Boston. Brown has been the driving force all season. The Celtics have an uphill battle on hand tonight. The Hornets will almost certainly bring great effort and energy from tip.
