ESPN Insider Reveals Jets’ Mindset About Picking Former Alabama Star Ty Simpson: ‘Do Not Feel…

Although Simpson would be playing for the first time in the NFL season of 2026, most of his fans and analysts are vouching for him because of his performance at the NFL Combine, where he just missed one throw.

There are a lot of questions about Simpson’s spot in the 2026 NFL Draft, as he is less experienced and has played just one season as a starter at Alabama. Fans are curious to know if the New York Jets are gearing up to draft the Alabama star.

To test Simpson to their best ability, the Jets had a private workout session with Simpson, after which ESPN analyst Rich Cimini commented that it is less likely that the Jets will choose Simpson as the no.16th overall pick.

He says, “Based on what I know, I’d be a little surprised if they took him at 16, only because they had so many other needs. I do know this field. With three number one picks in next year’s draft, the Jets do not feel like they are pressured to take someone this year. So they’re going into it with that mentality.”

If we consider the NFL draft of 2026, the Jets might end up with a lot of options for the Day 1 pick, with Geno Smith already ready to be their quarterback for the next season.

If jets are not being pressured with the Steelers potentially picking Simpson at No.18, they could be looking to draft someone else at a position that needs more care, like drafting a wide receiver.

Mel Kiper Jr. Advises the Browns To Not Worry About Ty Simpson

Mel Kiper Jr. has named Ty Simpson as the No. 16 overall pick for the New York Jets in the 2026 NFL Draft and has strictly advised the Cleveland Browns not to worry about drafting the former Alabama star, as they have a better option at quarterback.

During a conversation with Field Yates, the ESPN analyst was sharing his thoughts on how the New York Jets and the Pittsburgh Steelers should be figuring out the situation around Simpson.

“The#Browns don’t have to worry about Ty Simpson. They got a better QB than Ty Simpson in Shedeur Sanders. Don’t go there.” Mel Kiper Jr. said.

Yates interrupted him and added Browns to the list of teams that should consider picking Simpson, to which Mel Kiper Jr. bluntly reacted and said they already have Shedeur Sanders, who is a better quarterback than Simpson; hence, they don’t need to worry about the former Alabama star.

Simpson secured 3,567 in passing yards, scored 28 touchdowns agsinst 5 interceptions.
