Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Rashod Bateman makes a catch against the Cleveland Browns.
There’s no doubt that the Baltimore Ravens need Wide Receiver help, but one wide receiver is being brought up as a potential trade target.
ESPN’s Rich Cimini mentioned Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Rashod Bateman as a trade possibility for the New York Jets.
People often forget that Rashod Bateman is a former 2021 first round draft pick to the Baltimore Ravens out of the University of Minnesota.
The Baltimore Ravens took the wideout with big expectations. The Ravens hoped he would show his capabilities in an electrifying fashion. Due to injuries, lack of targets, and some dropped passes as well, Bateman has not been the most effective.
Bateman’s Production for the Baltimore Ravens
Baltimore signed the former first round pick to a three-year $36.75 million contract extension in June 2025. Many would say Bateman earned this extension after an impressive 2024 season with the Ravens.
Bateman played all 17 games for the Ravens in 2024. The Ravens wideout recorded nine touchdowns and racked up 756 yards during the 2024 season. Many expected more production from Bateman in 2025.
And it never came.
Although he has shown flashes of being good to great, some would say he has been inconsistent throughout his career. Injuries have also played a part in his inconsistency with the team.
Bateman only had 19 receptions for 224 yards in the 2025 season. While injuries played a role, he played in 13 of the Ravens’ 17 games in 2025.
So far in his career, Bateman has appeared in 64 games and has made 47 starts. In these games, Bateman has 262 targets, 157 receptions, 2,147 receiving yards, and 15 touchdowns. Many believe in Bateman’s ability, but the wideout cannot seem to find a consistent groove.
If Bateman is not traded, Baltimore could still see him stepping up in a bigger role in 2026. With DeAndre Hopkins on his way out of the door and Tylan Wallace joining another team, Bateman could have a redemption season with the Ravens in 2026.
The Baltimore Ravens Need WR Consistency
The Baltimore Ravens are primarily a running football team specifically with Lamar Jackson and Derrick Henry in the backfield. The ability to get the ground game going has not been an issue for the Ravens since 2018. One could argue the problem has been the pass game consistency.
In 2025, the Ravens struggled to protect Lamar Jackson. As a result, the Baltimore Ravens finished with an 8-9 record.
The most productive receiver in 2025 was Zay Flowers. Zay Flowers could be in for a huge payday due to his production since he’s been in the league.
The twitchy first round draft pick in 2023 caught 86 passes in the 2025 season. Flowers ranked 7th in total receiving yards with 1,211. In 2023, he recorded 858 yards and 5 touchdowns. In 2024, he recorded 1,059 yards and 4 touchdowns. Out of all of Baltimore’s receivers over the past three years, Flowers has been the most consistent.
In addition to Flowers’ impressive 2025 season, he was ranked 67th in ESPN’s most valuable players list.
Nonetheless, if Rashod Bateman can show flashes of his 2024 season, the Ravens could in for a great 2026 season. Due to his inconsistency, his name will continue to be floated around in trade rumors.
