All-Pro Corner Has High Praise For Christian Gonzalez

The New England Patriots are reportedly trying to get an extension done with Christian Gonzalez, and some of his peers have been vocal about how good he is.

During an appearance on "Games With Names" with Patriots legend Julian Edelman, Denver Broncos All-Pro cornerback Patrick Surtain II had high praise for Gonzalez. Edelman was noting how the best corners in the league right now are "chill" and do not trash-talk much. Instead, they let their play do the talking.

Surtain agreed, and noted how he, Gonzalez, Derek Stingley Jr, and other star corners do not talk much.

“Like Gonzo — like he’s quiet," Surtain said. "Quiet as a mouse, y’know? Chill, laid-back. But, he’s a baller. (Derek) Stingley, another quiet dude.”

Surtain won the Defensive Player of the Year Award in 2024. He is a two-time All-Pro, four-time Pro Bowler and was named a second-team All-Pro last season. He is regarded by many as the best corner in football, and he seems to have great respect for the Patriots' shutdown corner.

Gonzalez has one Pro Bowl nod and does not have the same accolades as Surtain, but they are both in the top tier of corners. Unlike Gonzalez, Surtain already got his payday, signing a four-year, $96 million deal with the Broncos in 2024. Gonzalez could end up making even more on his extension.
