Celtics Clinch Playoffs For 12th Year In A Row, Enter Elite Historical Company

In defeating the Charlotte Hornets on Sunday night for their 50th win of the 2025-26 NBA season, the Boston Celtics clinched a playoff berth for the 12th season in a row, which places the Celts in elite company.

The 12th-straight playoff berth is the 9th-longest such streak in NBA history, and the longest active streak in the NBA. It's also the third-longest playoff streak in Celtics franchise history.

The Celtics have now made the playoffs 12 seasons in a row, tying the 9th longest streak in NBA history.

They own the longest active playoff streak in the NBA and this marks their 3rd longest playoff streak in franchise history.

Boston's streak of 50-win seasons (now five) is also the longest such active streak in the NBA, as well as the longest such streak for the franchise since nine straight seasons of 50 wins from 1979 to 1988.

The Celtics have reached 50 wins in five straight seasons – the longest streak for the franchise since doing so in nine straight seasons from 1979-80 through 1987-88.

Brad Stevens was hired as Celtics head coach in 2013. He inherited a lottery roster and missed the playoffs in his debut season. The Celtics haven't missed the playoffs since that season -- seven years with Brad coaching, five as president of basketball operations.

In the "Brad Era", the Celtics have been to six Eastern Conference Finals, two NBA Finals, and, of course, have a title from 2024.
