Malo Gusto kicks his feet up; Pedro Neto gets his blood pressure up

We roll into the second week of the international break after a quiet weekend of not much happening on the Chelsea front.

Malo Gusto’s France had a game against Colombia on Sunday, which they’d end up winning pretty easily, 3-1, even while rotating the side from their first friendly of the break the other day, against Brazil. So much talent in that France squad, as usual! So Gusto got to kick his feet up for the day and watch his teammates in action, including N’Golo Kanté, who got to wear the captain’s armband for his country on his 35th birthday. Happy birthday, NG!

Earlier, on Saturday night in the good old US of M, Pedro Neto’s Portugal took on Mexico at the newly renovated and reopened Estadio Azteca in Mexico City, which will host the opening match of the 2026 World Cup later this year. Though the match would finish scoreless, it wasn’t entirely uncompetitive and it featured this amusing flashpoint between Jesús Gallardo and our very own Pedro Neto, who had just come on a few minutes prior, at the half. Neto laughed it off on social media after the match, but he’s had a few these sort of headrushes lately. He’s got a penchant for the dramatic, and that can be fun, but maybe just tone it down a notch.

On a more serious note, a spectator died before the match by falling from the second level box seats. The local authorities said that “the man was intoxicated [and] he attempted to jump from the second-level box seats to the first level by climbing along the exterior of the structure before falling to the ground floor”. Yikes.
