The latest Premier League news and rumours including updates from Liverpool, Manchester City and Leeds United.
Premier League teams will get the chance to bring in some new faces this summer. As per CaughtOffside, Liverpool are ‘tracking’ Roma defender Evan Ndicka. Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur and Barcelona are said to be keen as well. The report adds that his price tag is around the £39million mark.
Ndicka, 26, is an Ivory Coast international with 86 caps to his name. He joined his current club back in 2023 after catching the eye in Germany at Eintracht Frankfurt. The centre-back has since made 119 appearances for the Serie A giants in all competitions and has chipped in with six goals from the back.
The 3am Verdict: Liverpool could see Evan Ndicka as someone to bolster their defensive department. If he joined, he would give them more competition and depth at the back. In addition, he could be a shrewd long-term replacement for Virgil van Dijk, who is out of contract at Anfield next year.
Manchester City goalkeeper James Trafford still wanted by Newcastle United
According to Football Insider, Newcastle United are still interested in Manchester City goalkeeper James Trafford. The stopper made the switch to the Etihad Stadium last year. Prior to his return to the North West, he was Burnley’s number one and helped the Clarets gain promotion from the Championship.
The 3am Verdict: James Trafford should look to leave Manchester City this summer. His switch to the Etihad Stadium hasn’t gone to plan and someone of his ability should not be playing as a number two. Therefore, going somewhere like Newcastle United where he will play every week would be a sensible move for him.
Leeds United striker Mateo Joseph eyed by Wrexham
Via MOT Leeds News, Wrexham are keeping tabs on Leeds United striker Mateo Joseph. The Welsh side are currently looking to reach the top flight under Phil Parkinson. They are on the brink of the play-offs in the second tier behind the likes of Hull City and Southampton.
Joseph has spent this term on loan at Real Mallorca in La Liga and is due to come back to Elland Road when his temporary deal expires. He has scored only two goals in 29 outings and the Whites will have a decision to make regarding his situation. The 22-year-old, who is from Spain, has found the net on six occasions in 73 outings for his parent club altogether.
The 3am Verdict: Wrexham are well stocked up with options at the top end of the pitch at the moment. Nevertheless, Mateo Joseph would be a solid acquisition if they were able to lure him to Wales from Leeds United. He would inject more quality into Phil Parkinson’s attacking department and at the age of 22, he still has bags of potential.
