Real Madrid have Chelsea star Enzo Fernández in their target list for the summer window.
Los Blancos want to improve their midfield and have already identified a few key targets, including the Chelsea star.
He joined the Premier League side from Benfica in January 2023, weeks after winning the World Cup with Argentina for £106.8m [€123.12m].
The 25-year-old was a key part of Chelsea’s squad that won the UEFA Conference League and the Club World Cup last year.
He has extended his fine form into this season, managing 12 goals and six assists from 46 matches so far.
His Premier League stats are as follows:
Appearances: 30
Starts: 29
Total minutes: 2,583
Minutes per game: 86
Expected Goals: 10.42
Expected Assists: 5.97
Shots on target per game: 0.9
Tackles per game: 1.6
Ball recovered: 3.9
Duels won: 4.0
This shows his overall impact, both while attacking and defending. Two weeks ago, Sport Witness relayed news the player could leave Stamford Bridge after this season.
Last Tuesday, the Argentina international said he’s focused on Chelsea and will make a decision on his future after the World Cup. He also said there has been no contact with the La Liga side.
Real Madrid option for Chelsea star
Monday’s edition of Mundo Deportivo has a report on Real Madrid’s midfield targets for the next window.
Manchester City’s Rodri remains the preferred option but will turn 30 years of age in June.
In addition to this, he’ll cost €100m despite his contract expiring in 2027. The Spanish giants are also looking at alternatives, and this is where Enzo Fernández fits in.
The newspaper claims he would be a ‘guaranteed signing’ as he won the World Cup and shown his high potential on numerous occasions.
Mundo state: ‘He is a player with character, the kind who quickly connects with the fans and is a natural leader. It would be like having a second Fede Valverde on the field. The only problem is that he is a player with a strong personality and ego, and in a dressing room like Real Madrid’s, there are already several players with that profile.’
The South American will also cost €100m but is much younger than Rodri. Liam Rosenior’s side could demand a fee much higher than that if he were to push for an exit and Mundo haven’t taken this into account.
Flirting with Real Madrid
Enzo Fernández now spoke to Marcos Giles and Infobae have relayed his comments. The Blues man said he would like to move to the Spanish capital at some point in the future.
“I really like Madrid. It’s similar to Buenos Aires,” he said.
Infobae say his comment is interpreted as a ‘nod to Real Madrid’.
Contract, value and agent info
Transfermarkt value Enzo Fernández, who has a contract at Stamford Bridge until 2032, at €90m.
