“That’s where I am”–Player asked about Leeds United and Arsenal wanting him

Daniel Svensson

Borussia Dortmund’s Daniel Svensson has been asked about interest shown by several clubs, including Arsenal and Leeds United.

The Sweden international initially moved to BVB on loan from FC Nordsjælland in February 2025. The Bundesliga side made his stay permanent by exercising the purchase clause later that year.

Prior to his permanent move to Borussia Dortmund, Nottingham Forest had shown serious interest. Fast forward to 2026 and Arsenal and Leeds United have emerged as his new contenders from England.

At the German club, he mainly operates as a left wing-back, managing six goals and six assists from 60 matches. This includes four goals and two assists form 39 matches from this season.

His Bundesliga stats per game for this season are as follows:

Key passes: 1.1

Interceptions: 0.7

Tackles: 1.2

Possession won [final third]: 0.3

Clearances: 2.4

Ball recovered: 2.7

Duels won: 3.1

His performances would have seen Arsenal, Leeds United, Real Madrid and several other clubs take notice.

Responds to Arsenal and Leeds United links

Last month, Sport Witness covered claims from Germany that Arsenal and Daniel Farke’s side are both chasing him. Bild stated Leeds United in particular are keen on securing his services in the summer.

Daniel Svensson is currently with Sweden for this ongoing international break, and it gave Fotbollskanalen an opportunity to have a chat with him. Last week, he came off the bench in Sweden’s 3-1 win over Ukraine in the World Cup qualifier.

The first part of the interview is about this clash, and the rest is on BVB and the transfer links.

As things stand, he doesn’t want to change clubs after this season.

“No, I wouldn’t say that. I’m really happy in Dortmund. I haven’t been there for that long. I feel like I have more to do there. I’m really happy to be there,” he said.

Expressen recently said Real Madrid scouts watched him in action for Borussia Dortmund, but he isn’t aware of it.

“I haven’t heard anything about it, to be honest. I have nothing to say about it. Because I don’t know anything about it. It’s not something I’m thinking about. But it’s clear that it’s fun,” Svensson explained.

Fotbollskanalen specifically points out Bild’s report on Arsenal and Leeds United and ask whether a summer move is on the cards.

“I’m just focusing on Dortmund. That’s where I am and I’m really enjoying it. It’s not something I have any focus on. We have important games left in the season,” he added.
