Enzo Fernandez remains heavily linked with a switch to Real Madrid after confessing he would relish the opportunity to live in the Spanish capital. The Chelsea midfielder has repeatedly faced questions about a potential move to Los Blancos, with his most recent comments proving particularly revealing.
Speaking during a Kick stream with Marcos Giles, he said: "I'd like to experience, I don't know, live there. I really like Madrid, it reminds me a lot of Buenos Aires." Fernandez was then told that to get that experience he "could go to Getafe, or Rayo Vallecano... there's also Atletico Madrid."
While Real was not explicitly named, the implication was abundantly clear, with those on the stream, including Fernandez himself, grinning after the remark. The 25-year-old has not done himself any favours in recent weeks, with one particularly troubling comment made following Paris Saint-Germain's Champions League elimination of Chelsea.
"I don't know [whether I will leave Chelsea], there are eight games left and the FA Cup," he said. "There's the World Cup and then we'll see."
Addressing his future once more later in the month, he added: "No, honestly, nothing, zero talks. Now we're focused on Chelsea and what's left of the last few games this season and then we'll see after the World Cup."
Fernandez has also been linked with a switch to PSG, though a move to Real currently appears more probable given their ambitions to bolster their midfield options. Manchester City midfielder Rodri has similarly been linked and left the door ajar for a potential transfer in the future during a recent interview.
Liam Rosenior was pressed for his thoughts on Fernandez's remarks, with the Chelsea boss lifting the lid on a private exchange between the pair.
He said: "I think I had a great conversation with Enzo at length this morning [last Thursday] before training, not just about his comments, just how he was feeling, how as a team we can improve.
"He's one of the captains of the club. What I would say is that he made it really, really clear to me how happy he is here at this club, how much he wants to win, how passionate he is for us to be successful.

"And he also said that in translation and in emotion, things get misconstrued in what he said. So for me, he's fully committed to this group, he's fully committed to winning here at this football club."
Rosenior's own position has also come under scrutiny of late, following four successive defeats prior to the March international break.
Despite this, it is understood there are no intentions for the pair to go their separate ways at the season's conclusion, with Rosenior heavily involved in transfer discussions as both he and the club gear up for the summer window.
Securing Champions League football for next season will almost certainly prove crucial in attracting new signings, and Chelsea face a genuine battle to achieve that. They currently occupy sixth place in the Premier League table, just one point adrift of Liverpool, with Brentford and Everton snapping at their heels in seventh and eighth respectively.
