Former Minnesota Vikings middle linebacker Jeff Siemon passes away at 75

EAGAN, Minn. (KTTC) – The Minnesota Vikings announced former player Jeff Siemon died over the weekend at 75 years old.

According to the team’s website, Siemon passed away on Saturday.

He was a four-time Pro Bowl middle linebacker and the number 10 overall pick in 1972.

He was also named one of the 50 greatest Vikings in the team’s 50th season celebration in 2010 and played the middle of the “Purple People Eaters” defense wearing the number 50 for 11 seasons.

Siemon is third all-time in team history in career tackles with 1,375.

A fun fact, according to the Viking’s website, Siemon was born in Rochester when his dad was a Mayo Clinic doctor.
