It would be a surprise if Chelsea are not thinking about potential replacements for Enzo Fernandez, with Leon Goretzka one name worth considering.
Fernandez is being heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid after failing to rule out a summer exit following his side’s elimination from the Champions League.
Goretzka will be a free agent at the end of the season, making him a very appealing option.

Chelsea fans split on Leon Goretzka replacing Enzo Fernandez
With Goretzka set to be available this summer, The Chelsea Chronicle asked supporters on TalkingPoints for their thoughts on the midfielder succeeding Fernandez at Stamford Bridge.
A couple of Chelsea fans were all for it. One supporter said: “Goretzka over Fernandez. He has experience, is a clutch player and scores goals.”
Another posted: “Our squad is crying out for a set of experienced top level players.” At 31 years of age and having played 300 times for Bayern, there is no doubt that Goretzka is just that.
However, not every Chelsea supporter is keen on the idea of bringing in Goretzka to replace Fernandez. One Chelsea fan said: “No way, keep Enzo.” Meanwhile, another TalkingPoints user has claimed that it would be the “wrong decision”. Want to have your say? You can do so by commenting below!

From the Chelsea board’s point of view, you suspect that the player’s age will also pose a problem for them.
Leon Goretzka and Sandro Tonali should be Chelsea’s top two options to replace Enzo Fernandez
Chelsea need to look past age here and just think about what Goretzka can bring to the team. Given how young and inexperienced their squad is, the Germany international being in his 30s is not even a bad thing.
Newcastle United’s Sandro Tonali could also be a good replacement for Fernandez, though he would cost a hefty transfer fee. It has been rumoured that the Magpies value the Italian at £100m.
Tonali could add more goals to his game, but he is quite a well-rounded midfielder overall.
Goretzka is capable of making late runs into the box before dispatching and is also a very complete midfielder, so both men should be in the picture if Chelsea find themselves in a position where they do need to replace Fernandez.
