Newcastle United midfielder Sandro Tonali is “open” to moving to Manchester United this summer, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.
The Italian international is still not pushing to leave St James’ Park, but Romano says the player has indicated that he would join the Red Devils if a fee can be agreed.
Tonali’s future is already the subject of plenty of headlines, with several Premier League clubs looking to sign him.

Romano has played down the chances of the 25-year-old moving back to Italy, as the cost of the transfer is beyond the means of interested teams such as Juventus.
However, Manchester United, as well as rivals Manchester City and Arsenal, are very keen on snapping up Tonali.
Have Newcastle agreed to sell the midfielder?
There was speculation last week that Tonali has a gentleman’s agreement to leave St James’ Park this summer if the Magpies don’t qualify for Europe.
However, that claim has been refuted by Chronicle Live and The Telegraph, who say that Newcastle have not made any sort of promise to Tonali or his agent in that regard.
Tonali is expected to be the subject of an official bid
While Newcastle are seemingly taking a firm stance on keeping the Italian, it does looks like Manchester United will test their resolve over the next couple of months.
The Daily Mail reporter Craig Hope, who revealed last summer that Alexander Isak wanted to leave the club, has said that the Red Devils are likely to make a “formal approach” for Tonali at the end of the season.
It should be pointed out, though, that Tonali’s contract runs until 2028 and there is no release clause, so Eddie Howe’s side are well within their rights to reject any offers that come their way this summer.
