Latest Arsenal injury news and return dates as they prepare for their return after the international break.
Arsenal are back in action on Sunday with an FA Cup quarter-final clash against Southampton at St Mary’s. They lost 2-0 to Manchester City in the Carabao Cup final last time out before the international break. Therefore, they will be looking to return to winning ways against the Saints.
The Gunners remain top of the Premier League table above City. They will be looking to get over the line as they hunt down the title. Here is a look at their latest injury news and return dates...
When is Martin Zubimendi back for Arsenal?
Arsenal midfielder Martin Zubimendi has pulled out of Spain’s squad due to injury. It remains to be seen how long he could potentially be out for. The Spanish FA have released this statement: "Martín Zubimendi has withdrawn from the Spanish national team camp due to discomfort in his right knee. To avoid any risk and to protect the player's health, he has been removed from the squad. Arsenal FC's medical staff have been informed of the situation."
Defender Piero Hincapie has emerged as a new worry for the Gunners. He has dropped out of Ecuador’s upcoming game against Holland. Like Zubimendi, the severity of his setback is yet to be known at this stage. Elsewhere, Leandro Trossard, Declan Rice and Bukayo Saka are all out of action for their countries and need to be assessed.
Regarding Rice and Saka, England have shared this update: "Declan Rice and Bukayo Saka will also return to Arsenal for medical assessment, having arrived on Friday along with nine other players. The rest of that group comprised of Dean Henderson, Nico O'Reilly, Ezri Konsa, Marc Guéhi, Dan Burn, Elliot Anderson, Morgan Rogers, Anthony Gordon and Harry Kane."
Is Arsenal winger Noni Madueke now injured?
Arsenal winger Noni Madueke has sustained a fresh blow on England duties. He has picked up a knock and won’t play for the Three Lions against Japan in their next outing. The attacker will now need to be checked on to establish the extent of the damage.
Attacking midfielder Eberechi Eze is in the treatment room right now with a calf problem. He sat out of the final against City last time out and wasn’t risked. The ex-QPR and Crystal Palace playmaker won’t play for the next dour to six weeks which isn’t ideal.
William Saliba wasn’t picked for France due to an ankle issue. Arsenal need to take a look at him ahead of their trip to Southampton. The French Football Federation have said: "William Saliba is unable to join the French national team's training camp, which begins this Monday, March 23. The Arsenal centre-back is suffering from recurring pain in his left ankle, requiring treatment and a minimum rest period of ten days."
Elsewhere, Martin Odegaard, Gabriel and Jurrien Timber all have injury worries at this stage. The Gunners have to take stock and see who is fit for their clash against the Saints. One player is most certainly unavailable is Mikel Merino, who remains out on a long-term basis.
