The Indianapolis Colts finished with an 8-9 record last season in the NFL. Indianapolis has not made the playoffs since the 2020 NFL season. That was when the NFL expanded to a seven-team postseason field and also around the same time where the NFL went to 17 games in the regular season.

There have been conversations for quite some time about adding an 18th game to the NFL calendar. The thing is, there a lot of debate amongst the players and the owners. Colts owner Carlie Irsay-Gordon talked about the potential of an 18th game during the NFL season at some point. She would like to see it and said,

“I think, as long as the players want it—which I think they would, because it would mean more revenue and, ultimately, a better product—I think it’s reasonable and something we should work toward.”

This would be interesting to see if this was ever finalized. It is not going to happen next season, but it might happen in seasons after that. There is no doubt that there is going to be a lot of backlash if the NFL goes to an 18-game season. There are a lot of bad NFL teams anyways and the product isn’t as good as the league thinks it is. All this would be about is the owners getting more money and nothing else.
