Liverpool could be set to do battle with Chelsea in the race for a "top-class" midfielder, with his club now open to a sale in the summer transfer window.
Reds eyeing new midfielder with Jones' future in doubt
There is a feeling Curtis Jones' days at Anfield could be numbered, with the central midfielder's contract set to expire at the end of next season, and the same report states talks about a new deal for Alexis Mac Allister are progressing slowly too.
Mac Allister has attracted interest from Real Madrid and even Manchester United ahead of the summer, with Hungary Boss Marco Rossi suggesting Dominik Szoboszlai would also be interested in a move to the Santiago Bernabeu.
Rossi said: "Because of the very close and direct relationship I have with Dominik Szoboszlai since he started playing football as a child, Real Madrid has always been his dream.
"I don't know if he'll be able to take that step, because the decision depends on him and also on his club."
With that in mind, it could be very important for the Reds to strengthen in the middle of the park at the end of the season, and they have been making moves to sign Newcastle United star Sandro Tonali, whose camp is now working on a summer exit from St. James' Park.
However, a deal for Tonali would be extremely expensive, with the Magpies expected to demand at least £100m, and a Ligue 1 star has entered the frame as a potential alternative.
Chelsea and Liverpool could battle it out for "top-class" midfielder
According to a report from Caught Offside, Liverpool and Chelsea are now neck and neck in the race to sign AS Monaco midfielder Lamine Camara, with the French club willing to cash-in during the summer transfer window.
However, the French club are set to hold out for a huge fee, as they are planning to reject any offers of less than €65m - €75m (£56m - £65m).

Camara doesn't have a release clause included in his contract, which puts the Ligue 1 outfit in a strong negotiating position, given that he remains under contract until 2029.
Tonali would perhaps be the ideal target, having already proven himself in the Premier League with Newcastle, but the Monaco star could be a solid alternative, with scout Jacek Kulig describing him as a "top-class box to box midfielder" last season.

Liverpool among the favourites to sign their own Declan Rice for £100m
Liverpool need to replenish their sterile midfield in the summer transfer market.
The Senegealese maestro is adept on the front foot, having created seven big chances in Ligue 1 this season, which is the joint-highest number in the Monaco squad, with an average of 2.2 interceptions per 90 ranking him in second place.
£65m would be a huge fee to play for a player with no Premier League experience, but Camara has been exhibiting promising signs in France, and could now be ready to test himself in England.
