Denver Broncos CEO and owner Greg Penner met with the media on Monday at the NFL annual meeting in Arizona.
And while many folks are curious about the Broncos new stadium and if it’ll open in 2031, there were also plenty of football questions for Penner.
Perhaps, none more interesting than the health of QB Bo Nix, who fractured his ankle in an epic OT playoff win over the Buffalo Bills.
It would’ve been fascinating to see if the Broncos went to the Super Bowl if Nix had been able to play in the AFC Title Game, but that wasn’t the case. Denver had to go with backup QB Jarrett Stidham in a frustrating 10-7 loss to the New England Patriots.
However, that’s in the past now and Greg Penner was asked about Nix’s recovery and how that’s gone over the last 2.5 months.
“Really, really good. He’s attacked his recovery in the same way that he attacks, you know, preparing for games and just done a terrific job,” Penner said.
It’s not a surprise to hear Penner say that about Nix, but it’s still encouraging. Nix doesn’t want to miss any offseason training and it sounds like that’ll be the case.
“He’s ahead of schedule, no concerns at all for OTAs and go forward from there. Really, really pleased with his progress and support from Beau Lowery and everyone,” Penner said.
Obviously, the Broncos need Nix healthy throughout the regular season and playoffs in 2026 if they’re going to hoist a Lombardi Trophy.
Not having any lingering concerns going into OTAs, mini-camp and eventually training camp in July and August is huge.
Any fears Broncos Country might have had about that were officially squashed by the top boss Greg Penner on Monday.
