The New York Jets have a chance to add a player with rich bloodlines.

In Matt Miller’s latest mock draft for ESPN, he predicted that the Jets would select Arizona State wide receiver Jordyn Tyson with the No. 16 overall pick in the first round.

“The Jets might not have their future franchise quarterback yet, but they can give Geno Smith or whoever they draft later a viable target opposite Garrett Wilson. Tyson plays above the rim like his brother (Cleveland Cavaliers guard Jaylon Tyson), and his 6-foot-2, 203-pound frame is ideal to be a threat over the middle of the field and in the red zone thanks to his vertical skills. Tyson has battled injuries in his career, and hamstring issues limited his predraft testing availability, but the talent is good enough to take a chance here,” Miller wrote.

Jaylon Tyson, 23, entered the NBA as the No. 20 overall pick in the first round of the 2024 draft. He is the older brother of Jordyn Tyson, who is one of the top receiver prospects available in the 2026 NFL draft.

A Risky Proposition

Tyson has only played in double-digit games in a single season once during his college career because of injuries.

“Tyson suffered a serious knee injury in 2022 when he tore his PCL, MCL, and ACL. He played in just three games the following year. In 2024, he suffered a collarbone injury that held him out of the team’s final two games, including a College Football Playoff loss to Texas. He also missed three games in the second half of the 2025 season due to his hamstring strain,” beat reporter Nick Faria of Jets X-Factor wrote.

The most recent injury Tyson is dealing with is a troublesome hamstring. Faria said he got hurt “during training camp of his final year with the Sun Devils.” Jeff Howe of The Athletic said both of Tyson’s hamstrings have been injured since last season.

He didn’t participate in the NFL Combine or the Arizona State Pro Day. Instead, he will hold a private workout for teams on April 17, six days before the start of the 2026 NFL draft. That will be a big test for the talented pass catcher.

Other Notable Selections in Massive Mock Draft

Miller predicted landing spots for all 257 draft picks across seven rounds. That includes nine new players for the Jets.

In this simulation, Miller provided the Jets with a potential franchise quarterback in Alabama’s Ty Simpson. Miller projected that Simpson would go to New York via the No. 33 overall pick in the second round.

With the No. 44 overall pick in the second round, he predicted that the Jets would swipe Texas linebacker Anthony Hill Jr.

“The Jets would continue to build a foundation with another rangy, talented front-seven defensive player. Hill was a three-year starter who has the athletic tools to be a fierce weakside linebacker. He had 17 career sacks and three interceptions at Texas,” Miller wrote.
