The Minnesota Vikings had until May 1st to make a decision on WR Jordan Addison’s fifth-year option.

Rumors were swirling that the Vikings would look to trade Addison after his third-consecutive offseason arrest. Theories suggested that perhaps Minnesota would get what they could for Addison while he still has trade value. Thus, they get rid of the “headaches” that Addison has brought to the team since he was drafted in 2023.

However, there is no denying that Jordan Addison is a very talented athlete and football player. For those reasons, the Vikings have made the decision on Jordan Addison’s future with the club.

The Minnesota Vikings have officially made the decision to exercise the fifth-year option on Addison’s rookie contract. This means that he will remain under Minnesota’s control until the 2028 offseason.

ESPN‘s Kevin Seifert had the initial report.

“The Vikings will pick up WR Jordan Addison’s fifth-year option, per interim GM Rob Brzezinski. Not a tough decision, regardless of Addison’s off-field issues.”

Though Addison is yet to have a 1,000-yard season and had some drop issues in 2025, this makes too much sense for the Vikings.

In what feels like a “win-now” year for Kevin O’Connell, Jordan Addison surely is that type of player. He forms one of the best young wide receiver duos in the game along with Justin Jefferson, and provides further stability for whoever is the Vikings’ starting QB in 2026.

Here is Rob Brzezinksi’s official quote on picking up Addison’s option via the Vikings’ official website.

“He’s a really important player for us, an impact player. We’re definitely exercising the option. For sure. The deadline for that is after the draft.”

Minnesota, QB Kyler Murray Get Blunt Words from Former Teammate of Murray

A former teammate of Murray, Chase Edmonds, spoke candidly about Kyler Murray and the Minnesota Vikings.

The words came in an interview with Kyle Odegard, a Cardinals insider featured on The Sporting News. The exclusive interview was posted to Casino Guru News.

“I think they can win the NFC North, and I’m going to be real. I think Kyler Murray is going to win Comeback Player of the Year. I think he gets back to the Pro Bowl. I think he really reminds people of just how talented he is.”

Edmonds also spoke on the concerns of Kyler Murray professionally.

“Look, I have never once questioned Kyler Murray’s work ethic. I know the work he puts in day in and day out to be prepared at the highest level. You know Kyler. When it comes to the clause, I wasn’t there, so I don’t know what happened. I had been gone for a year.”

The former Cardinal would then send a message to Vikings fans about Kyler Murray.

“For the Minnesota fans, I would just say that they are going to get the best version of Kyler Murray, one the NFL has not seen. When Kyler Murray first entered the NFL, he never experienced adversity. When you finally experience that adversity this late in your career? This version of Kyler, he’s going to be more motivated than he’s ever been in his entire life.”

If Edmonds’ words are anything to take to heart, Vikings fans everywhere should be the excited for the possibilities.
