The Minnesota Vikings found a reliable weapon in the passing game in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft, selecting Jordan Addison 23rd overall. Since then, he has developed into a reliable number two option and complement to Justin Jefferson, hauling in 178 receptions for 2,425 yards and 22 touchdowns across 47 games, including the playoffs. Addison had a decent third season, albeit posting career lows in receiving with 42 receptions for 610 yards and three touchdowns in 14 games, having missed the first three weeks following a suspension for violating the league’s substance abuse policy.

Because Jordan Addison was a first-round pick and has just completed his third season, his rookie contract includes a fully guaranteed 5th-year option for the 2027 season, with the decision due in the first week of May. Since he did not make the Pro Bowl but met the playing-time threshold of 50% or more of snaps over his first three years, he is classified under Tier 2, the playtime tier. Tier 2 is worth approximately $18 million, per*Over The Cap.*

During the NFL Annual League Meeting, Rob Brzezinski was asked about Jordan Addison’s club option, as reported by Kevin Seifert of ESPN. The interim general manager confirmed that the Vikings will exercise his fully guaranteed $18 million 5th-year option for the 2027 season. Seifert noted it was not a tough decision, despite Addison’s off-field issues.

The Vikings will have their top two receivers under contract for at least the next two seasons, which will be good news for whoever the starting quarterback is.
