The Pittsburgh Steelers have frequented the stop-gap quarterback shop in each of the last two seasons, but it appears as if they could have the same starting quarterback in consecutive years for the first time since 2020-21.
When speaking at the NFL Owners Meetings, head coach Mike McCarthy noted that he and Aaron Rodgers are in constant communication.
“He’s really engaged into what’s going on,” [McCarthy said via Alan Saunders of _Steelers Now_](https://steelersnow.com/steelers-make-intentions-with-aaron-rodgers-obvious/)_._ We’ve been talking weekly, every couple of days. We’ll just continue to do that.“
From that quote, as well as several others throughout the offseason, it appears the Steelers are confident that Rodgers will be back in 2026 as the starting quarterback. But what about the future? When asked about the 2026 NFL Draft, McCarthy made it clear he wants to draft a quarterback.
“I’m hopeful there will be a quarterback there at the right time for us,” [McCarthy said](https://steelersnow.com/mike-mccarthy-reveals-what-hes-looking-for-in-next-steelers-qb/).
The Steelers have five picks in the top 100. If there is a guy available when they are on the clock though the first two days of the draft, it’s all but guaranteed that they will pull the trigger.
