HIGHSMITH RUSH STRATEGIES
T.J. Watt has been the Steelers’ pass rusher who has received the most attention recently. There are plenty of good reasons for that, but he’s not their only productive edge rusher. Alex Highsmith has also developed into a good player and a solid partner for Watt. Also, he has stepped up when Watt was hurt, including notching a career-high 14.5 sacks in 2022 when Watt tore his pec.
The Athletic Football Show recently uploaded a video on YouTube where Highsmith broke down some of his film. He explains some of his strategies for rushing the passer, and it’s interesting to hear how his process works. While Highsmith might not get as much attention as Watt, he deserves recognition for his own hard work.
COACHES PHOTO
The NFL owners’ meetings are currently going on, and it’s an opportunity for all of the head coaches and general managers to get together, a rare occasion. During the season, they each have so much going on. While there are some moments where they can gather during the offseason, it’s still rare to see them all in one place.
While the league meetings tend to get a good turnout, it’s still tough to get all the head coaches together. ESPN insider Adam Schefter posted the photo of the head coaches, and two were missing. Mike McCarthy was present, but Sean McVay and Todd Monken weren’t. It’s strange to see Mike Tomlin absent, too.
SUPER BOWL LXIII LOCATION
The NFL Draft is coming to Pittsburgh this year, but the city doesn’t anticipate hosting the Super Bowl anytime soon. Their stadium and weather would make such a big event tough to hold there. Usually, the Super Bowl is held in a modern stadium in a city with good weather.
Last year’s championship game was held in San Francisco, and this year’s will be held in Los Angeles. NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport shared on Twitter that Super Bowl LXIII, which will happen at the end of the 2028 season, will occur at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. Super Bowl LVIII was the last championship game that was played there. Hopefully, the Steelers punch their ticket to Vegas in a few years.
