Big boost for Arsenal as injured £52m star could return for Bournemouth & Man City games

Arsenal have been handed a boost over the fitness of winger Noni Madueke.

The England international suffered a knee injury during the 1-1 draw against Uruguay last week, and he was spotted in a leg brace after the game.

There were fears of a serious injury, but The Athletic have now clarified that the concern is a minor one and he could return to action pretty soon.

Madueke is likely to miss the FA Cup quarter-final at Southampton as well as the first leg of the Champions League quarter-final at Sporting CP.

Madueke poised to return for Bournemouth & Man City games

The 23-year-old signed for the Gunners from Chelsea for £52 million last summer.

He had a lively start to his Arsenal career before an untimely knee injury. Since his comeback, Madueke has notched up 11 goal contributions across all competitions for the club.

The Englishman has been an ideal backup option for Bukayo Saka on the right wing. His absence may be felt during the upcoming fixtures against Southampton and Sporting CP.

Still, Arsenal’s faithful should be delighted by the fact that Madueke could be fit in time for the crunch league matches against Bournemouth and Manchester City in mid-April.

There is the second leg of the Champions League quarter-final sandwiched in between. Having Madueke back in the squad provides the manager with another solution on the right side of attack.

Arsenal suffered a disappointing Carabao Cup final loss to Manchester City, but could still end the campaign on a high note with three competitions and silverware to play for.

The league should be the utmost priority with Arsenal nine points ahead of second-placed Man City, who have a game in hand. Madueke looks poised to return ahead of the trip to the Etihad Stadium on April 19.
