A look at the early injury news surrounding Arsenal and Southampton ahead of their FA Cup date.
Arsenal are back in action on Saturday when they face Championship playoff hopefuls Southampton in the FA Cup quarter-finals. The Gunners have been in superb form over recent weeks, but having seen their quadruple dream crumble in the Carabao Cup final, the FA Cup will be seen as a crucial component, with the treble still alive.
Southampton have been in superb form over recent weeks, storming into the play-off spots after a far from ideal start to the season. Here we round up the latest injury news surrounding both teams.
Leo Scienza - Fit
Scienza has been dealing with a groin injury but is likely to return here.
Welington - Doubt
Welington has been dealing with a muscular injury but he could well return here.
Jay Robinson - Doubt
Robinson has been working his way back from a quad injury and could well return to action here.
Mads Roerslev - Out
Roerslev is out for the season after suffering a serious Achilles injury earlier this year.
Noni Madueke - Out
Madueke has picked up a minor knee issue on international duty and will miss this one.
Mikel Merino - Out
Merino is out for the rest of the season after ankle injury. Speaking after the operation in February, Arteta said: “Well, I think the doctors were really happy the way it went. Yeah, now it starts. Obviously, it's a long process. You're talking about bone healing, so you need to be patient. You respect the timings, and I'm sure Mikel is going to do everything that he possibly can to speed up the process. We're talking about months, whether it's three, four or five, we don't know.”
Eberechi Eze - Out
It’s not clear how long Eze will be out for at this stage. Arteta said before the break: “No, he's out [of the internationals]. We have to do another scan in six or seven days and wait and see the results. Is it a leg injury. His calf.”
Martin Odegaard - Doubt
Norway manager Stale Solbakken has said this week: “He has not been involved since we beat Moldova 11-1. It is his last international. Now it is two-and-a-half weeks [until AFC play again in the PL]. I think it could be a goal for Martin to be in a squad... it is within reach.”
William Saliba - Doubt
Saliba has been battling an ankle injury, but he will be expected to return after the break. But he goes down as a doubt until confirmed otherwise.
It’s a similar situation for Gabriel, who has been dealing with a knee issue.
Trossard has a hip injury but will likely return after the break. He goes down as a doubt until confirmed otherwise.
