Tino Livramento is wanted by Arsenal and Manchester City as Newcastle United struggle to tie him down to a new contract.

Newcastle’s failure to compete at the top end of the Premier League this season has seen several of their key men linked with moves away ahead of the summer.

Livramento has continued to shine for the Magpies when he has been fit to play, and his future is up in the air as a result.

As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Transfer Insider podcast, Arsenal and Man City are battling at the front of the race to sign Livramento this summer.

Eddie Howe wants him to stay for next season, but failure to qualify for any European competition could mean that Newcastle’s transfer plans involve selling him to one of their Premier League rivals.

Arsenal and Man City set to battle it out for Tino Livramento

Livramento impressed for England against Uruguay last Friday, and is in line to go to the World Cup with his country this summer.

The right-back is under contract at Newcastle for another two years, but could push for a move away if they fail to qualify for Europe, with Arsenal and City both seriously interested.

Livramento’s stats for England vs Uruguay

Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: “It’s no surprise that there’s interest from Arsenal (in Livramento).

“Obviously, we know Manchester City are long-term admirers of Livramento and see him as a potential player who can come in and slot in at right back for them too.

“He’s under contract at Newcastle until 2028. There have been talks over a new deal, but nothing is agreed as yet.”

Livramento is more likely to leave Newcastle than Lewis Hall

Newcastle will be fearful of losing both of their first-choice full-backs this summer, with Hall also attracting attention from numerous top clubs.

He is also set to go to the World Cup with England this summer, and has been one of the best left-backs in the Premier League this season, with 24 appearances for the Magpies so far.

Despite fears of an exit, sources have revealed to Football Insider that Hall wants to stay at Newcastle and is not set to push for a move away ahead of next term.

That will be a huge relief to all connected to the Magpies, but it may also mean that the club are more content to let Livramento leave for the right offer.
