Chelsea will not be panicking, but the noise around Cole Palmer potentially leaving is getting louder.
Transfer reports over the weekend, including one from the Sun, have suggested that Cole Palmer is growing “disillusioned” with life at Stamford Bridge and could even consider a shock summer move, with Man United among the clubs named. United have been linked as they are Palmer’s boyhood club, and some reports have said that he’s homesick and wants to return to Manchester.
Palmer, 23, has already cemented himself as the focal point of this Chelsea project. Since arriving from Manchester City in 2023, he has been nothing short of exceptional, delivering goals, creativity and a level of composure that has made him arguably the most important player in the squad.
According to the report, frustrations stem from tactical adjustments under the current system, as well as the absence of key attacking relationships, particularly following the exit of Nicolas Jackson last summer. The two had developed a strong link up last season for the Blues.

Palmer is tied down to a long-term deal running until 2033, and internally he is viewed as a key player during the project that they are trying to build under manager Liam Rosenior.
If anything, this situation says more about where Chelsea are as a team than it does about Palmer as an individual. They have seen some inconsistent performances and results recently, in the Premier Legaue and Champions League.
Amid these performances, speculation around Palmer’s future is only going to grow, because everybody knows the player that he can be when he’s at his best.
The midfielder is currently battling to get into Thomas Tuchel’s starting XI for England. This season, the Chelsea star has made 20 appearances for the Blues, scoring nine goals, and providing one assist. His season has been somewhat ravaged by injuries, which has been a big disappointment for Palmer, hence the speculation about a move.
