Mohamed Salah is set to return for Liverpool’s trip to Man City in the FA Cup quarter-finals, but there is less optimism over Alisson after another blow.
Salah missed the 2-1 loss at Brighton last time out with a minor fitness issue and as a result was left out of Egypt’s squad for this month’s friendlies against Saudi Arabia and Spain.
But the 33-year-old is expected to be available for Saturday’s quarter-final at the Etihad having committed to his recovery work at the AXA Training Centre over the break, writes the Times‘ Paul Joyce.
It means the No. 11 will almost certainly return to the starting lineup against Man City, likely at the expense of Cody Gakpo.

Liverpool are however due to be without Alisson in Manchester, with the goalkeeper yet to make his return from an injury suffered a fortnight ago.
In an immediate update on his Instagram, the Brazilian explained that he would be “out of action for a while” and this is set to extend beyond missing the Brighton loss and Brazil’s friendlies against France and Croatia.
Joyce writes that there “remains uncertainty” over Alisson‘s return – and the likelihood is that Giorgi Mamardashvili will continue in his stead.
Arne Slot knows he will also be without Alexander Isak, Conor Bradley, Wataru Endo, Giovanni Leoni, Stefan Bajcetic and Jayden Danns for the last-eight tie.

Isak is stepping up his recovery from a broken leg, however, and could come back into contention for the Champions League quarter-finals against Paris Saint-Germain.
It remains to be seen if Federico Chiesa will be passed fit after pulling out of the Italy squad this month, with head coach Gennaro Gattuso simply explaining that the forward “didn’t feel up for it.”
No further issues have emerged over the international break as it stands, with many of Slot’s players having already fulfiled their duties.
Tuesday will however see Gakpo, Virgil van Dijk, Ryan Gravenberch, Jeremie Frimpong, Dominik Szoboszlai, Milos Kerkez, Andy Robertson, Trey Nyoni and Rio Ngumoha all involved for their countries.
